Bail is set at $2000 recognizance bond for a 50-year-old man facing charges after breaking into an apartment using a lamp as a weapon.
James B. Basler is charged with False Imprisonment and two counts each of Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct.
Police responded to a call early Wednesday morning (August 11th) of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 2000 block of Clark Street.
They heard the suspect identified as James B. Basler yelling inside the residence and were told that he was swinging a lamp around breaking a window and had piled boxes against the door
Basler eventually calmed down telling officers he was in need of Narcan. Police then entered the apartment and took Basler into custody without further incident.
Conditions of bail are that Basler have no contact with the victim or Garfield Gardens Apartments and maintain absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol.
He remains in the County Jail on a Probation Hold with his initial appearance scheduled for August 30th at 1:30 PM.
