Donald R. Williquette, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa.
Don was a resident living for the past two years at Village Pointe Commons Retirement Community in Grafton, WI.
Don was born on February 20, 1932 in Two Rivers. He was the son of the late Clifford and Myrtle Dickenscheid Williquette. Don attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1950. He then entered the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1955. Don then continued his education at the Badger Business School of Green Bay. On August 9, 1958 he married Shirley M. Krummel at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2013. Don was employed with T.C. Worthington Certified Public Accountants and later employed with Hawkins Ash Baptie CPA’s until his retirement in December 1995. Don was a longtime member and treasurer of the Manitowoc Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award through the Lions Clubs International. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #687, Knights of Columbus Council #710 and a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Athletic Association of Two Rivers. Don was active in sports while in high school with football, basketball and track and was elected to the Washington High School Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and daily mass server and also was a volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
He is survived by two children, Michael (Debra) Williquette, Manitowoc, and Kay (Todd) Hillner of Grafton; four grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Williquette, Abigail and Madeline Hillner; sister-in-law, Dorothy Krummel, Waukesha; nieces, nephews, along with other relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Myrtle Williquette; wife, Shirley; one sister, Betty Capraro ; one son-in-law, Paul Capraro, three brothers-in-law, Bill (Gertrude) Blaha, Paul Capraro, and Donald Krummel; one nephew, William Capraro; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matthew and Snobie Krummel.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the memorial services military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter #731. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
