First District State Senator Andre Jacque confirms last night that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The De Pere Republican who represents Northern Manitowoc County in his constituency said he doesn’t know when he contracted the virus but says that he and some of his family tested positive last week and he went to the hospital suffering from pneumonia. The local lawmaker adds that he was –apart from fatigue– largely asymptomatic and felt fine.
He says that he doesn’t believe any of his staff or close contacts were experiencing symptoms and that his legislative office has been following all protocols and have reached out to the limited number of close contacts from last week in case of a positive test.
There’s no confirmation that Jacque has been admitted to the hospital.
