Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert says Manitowoc County continues to be “high risk” for community spread of the COVID 19 virus She runs down the numbers from the last seven days.
“There have been an additional 71 confirmed cases and 13 probable cases of COVID-19 in Manitowoc County over the last week.” I’m sorry to say that one death has also been reported over the last seven days.”
The identity, age, hometown, and day of death were not released. Lambert says the good news is that third or booster shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine have been approved for those categorized as “immune-compromised.”
“Third doses have been shown to boost the immune response for those who did not receive strong enough protection from the first two doses. If it’s been 28 days since you received your second dose, you can receive your third shot today.”
Booster shots have not been approved for the elderly or “high risk” patients. A decision is expected within the next month. Meanwhile, the County Health Officer recommends that you ask your doctor if you don’t know whether you’re immune-compromised and that everyone “mask up” indoors whether you are vaccinated or not.
