Every year, the Manitowoc Police Department hosts an event known as Dine 4 K9, where area restaurants participate and give a portion of their proceeds from a day to the K9 program.
The event runs throughout September and has a different restaurant each day, with some taking multiple days, and others allowing the K9 officers to be on hand for a meet and greet.
In a news release, the Police Department called September, which is National Service Dog Month, “A perfect time to reflect on the role service dogs play in our lives and the extraordinary work they perform each and every day to help citizens in their community.”
