The Manitowoc Lutheran Girls Volleyball team placed 3rd last week in two season-opening tournaments.
The Lancers first competed in a 5-team round-robin tourney at Oostburg, where they went 2-and-2, including wins over Cedar Grove-Belgium and Racine Lutheran and losses to the host Flying Dutch and Southeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Athletics.
Then, Lutheran traveled to the 16-team Oshkosh Lourdes Tournament where they finished 2-and-1 in pool play. The Lancers dropped a 3-set match to Columbus, before rebounding to sweep both Iola-Scandinavia and Montello.
The Lancers earned a berth in the gold bracket where they defeated Stevens Point Pacelli, 2-1, but fell 0-2 to eventual tournament champion Winneconne.
Manitowoc Lutheran has its first conference match of the season Thursday night on the road against St. Mary Catholic.
