Janice Mae Jansky, 79, of Manitowoc, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Laurel Grove Assisted Living under the care of Holy Family Memorial Hospice.
She was born on February 2, 1942 in Manitowoc to the late Florian and Marcella “Marcie” (Lishka) Masiak. Janice grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1960. On June 30, 1962 she was united in marriage with Eugene Jansky at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. After graduating from high school, Janice began working at Mirro and then worked at Holy Cross Catholic Church and grade school. During her time at Holy Cross, she cleaned at the church and rectory, helped with other duties at the rectory, and also supervised the children during lunch and recess. Most of her career was spent working as a housekeeper at Fox Hills Resort. Later, she worked at Mishicot High School in the cafeteria. Janice and Eugene enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music and attending church picnics. She also liked to color, work wordsearches, and watch her soaps and gameshows during the day. She loved the Chicago Cubs. Janice would watch games with her family on T.V. and also make trips to Chicago to attend games and visit other family in the city.
Survivors include her sons, Terry (Lori) Jansky of Mishicot and Timothy Jansky of New London; granddaughter, Kristin (John) Biely; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Kylie; brother, Ronald (Joanne) Masiak of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; and parents, Florian and Marcella Masiak.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Christian Raj of Holy Cross Catholic Church officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 2:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Private burial of the urn will be in Calvary Cemetery.
