The Denmark Village Board voted this week following a public informational meeting to take the initial step to become a member of the Central Brown County Water Authority in order to in their words “meet the long-term water quality and quantity needs of the Village.”
Board President Susan Selner states in a news release that one of the two existing wells is over eighty years old and no longer produces enough water to meet the required demand on its own. She adds that The Village is growing, requiring a more reliable water resource that will be able to provide a safe and reliable water resource to the citizens and businesses of Denmark. Central Brown County Water Authority General Manager
Nic Sparacio says “This option addresses the Village’s concerns at a comparable financial cost to contributing a new well. Plus-The Authority’s water distribution system is a proven and reliable source of quality Lake Michigan water.”
No official date has been confirmed for when the Village will go on-line with Sparacio adding the process could take anywhere from 12-18 months.
