Steve Little has been in his position as President and CEO of Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc for 7-months now.
During an appearance last week on WOMT’s After Further Review program with Jason and Tina Prigge, the HFM president spoke about changes resulting from the new healthcare partnership with Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Little was asked, “What can the community expect?”
“It’s important to know that the Franciscan Sisters still remain engaged as they have a minority stake which allows us to remain Catholic and true to our tradition,” he told the Priggees. “So, that’s not going to change, we will continue to be a Catholic facility and welcome all faith traditions and spirituality etc.”
On the other side of the equation, Little explained an expansion of services in the lakeshore area so people don’t have to travel to Green Bay and Milwaukee.
“Specifically cancer care,” he expressed. “So the Medical College of Wisconsin will create a cancer network site here just like they have in West Bend and Kenosha where we have expanded cancer services to treat very acute cancers than we’ve been able to treat in the past.”
The local hospital executive admits that HFM has had its’ struggles with personnel retention the past 5 or 6 years.
“People have gotten frustrated in this community in that they establish a relationship with a Physician, or a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician’s Assistant and they move. But those days are over,” Little said. “We’re stabilizing our primary care base, we’ll have a large group of primary care providers to select from that’ll be stable.”
Little added, “Better days are ahead for HFM as we look forward to the future.”
