Bail is set at $1000 cash for a 17-year-old Manitowoc teen charged in connection with two vehicle theft cases.
Damario A.Torres faces charges of Eluding or Fleeing-Possession of Marijuana and Two Counts of Operating a vehicle without the Owner’s Consent.
An MPD Officer was operating his radar gun early last Friday morning when he clocked a vehicle driven by Torres at 57 MPH at the intersection of South 15th and Dewey Streets where the speed limit is 25 MPH.
Torres continued driving at a high rate of speed with the chase ending when he crashed into the front yard of a residence in the 1200 block of Flambeau Street.
He was captured a short time later after a brief foot chase and admitted to stealing the vehicle he was driving plus another from a residence on South 17th Street.
Conditions of bail are that Torres has no contact with the victims-not operate any vehicle and maintains absolute sobriety.
He remains in the County Jail at last word and is due back in court for an initial appearance next Monday at 1:30.
