As the leaves begin to fall from the trees, many people are now starting to think about which calendar they are going to hang in their home or office.
One good option every year is the Friends of the Mariners Trail calendar, which highlights the natural beauty of the trail that runs along Lake Michigan.
The photos featured in the calendar are all taken by citizens, as Judy Goodchild from the Friends group told us.
“We compline and review all of the prints,” she explained. “We get together and pick our top thirteen winners and four honorable mentions, and then we submit everything to Prompt Printing in Two Rivers, and they give us the completed product.”
She also told us about one of the biggest additions to the trail over the past year.
“The pergola is probably the highlight of what happened on the trail this year,” Goodchild said. “The pergola was built by a young man in Two Rivers, an Eagle Scout. He raised his own money, and he, and his Troop, and his parents built and installed the pergola. Then another young man built the picnic tables to go under it. He is also up for the Eagle Scout award.”
