Bail is set at $20,000 cash for a 39-year-old Manitowoc woman charged with child abuse.
Maria M. Figueroa is charged with Child Neglect and Repeated Acts of Child Neglect.
Manitowoc Police got involved when a victim was interviewed by a Child Advocate who was told that the abuse occurred between 2018 and this year.
The victim also disclosed that they had lost nearly 20 pounds due to a lack of food and water along with being forced by Figueroa to kneel on rice or nuts for hours and/or days at a time.
Figueroa also allegedly taped the Child’s hands together at night.
She denies any wrongdoing with medical documents taken as evidence against her.
Conditions of bail are that Figueroa has no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18.
She remains in The County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for November 8th at 1:30 p.m.
