The Luxemburg Community Fire Department responded early yesterday (Wednesday) to a house and garage fire in Kewaunee County.
Chief Lew DuChateau said upon arrival just after 12:30 am, firefighters found a 30-by-30-foot 2-story detached garage completely engulfed in flames and the house with fire on the exterior siding and in the eave of the structure.
The garage and contents were destroyed while the home sustained fire, smoke, and some water damage. The property owner discovered the fire when he heard a popping noise, alerting him to the garage burning.
Personnel were able to minimize damage to the residence and had the blaze under control within 30-minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire on Cherneyville Road in the Town of Montpelier is currently unknown.
Fire departments assisting Luxemburg were Denmark, New Franken, Kewaunee and Casco.
