A 70-year-old Illinois man is dead following a two-vehicle crash yesterday morning (November 15th) in the Town of Kossuth.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says a preliminary investigation indicates that the male driver was operating a 2005 Ford Ranger southbound on the off-ramp for I-43 at County Highway K about 8:15 AM when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp and was struck by an eastbound truck driven by a 67-year-old male from the Whitelaw Area.
The Tinley Park Illinois man was pronounced dead at the scene while the Whitelaw man was not injured.
The preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma and head injuries.
No additional information will be released at this time as the accident remains under investigation.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Department on scene were Fire Departments from Manitowoc, Menchalville, Kellnersville and Francis Creek, Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office and Highway Department, Kellnersville First Responders and Hi-Way 42 Garage.
