The next big step has been made in the redesign of Central Park in Two Rivers.
The 365 Central Park West Committee presented their final design to the City Council on Monday, where, according to City Manager Greg Buckley, it was approved.
“The Major remaining design issue to be ironed out was whether or not to eliminate Park Street from in front of the Community House, which was the recommendation of the Committee,” Buckley explained. “There were some community and Council concerns about totally eliminating that street. The design approved would keep West Park but as a one-way northbound street.”
Buckley also explained that the road will be a slow-speed access to the front of the Community House and the future site of the Cool City Brewing Company, so the speed limit would be 15 MPH.
Buckley said the approval of the project plan, “frees us up to get more active in the fundraising and grant-seeking phase of that $1.6 million project.”
Speaking of fundraising, that is the next major step in the process.
There is no word yet on exactly how that will be done as the city looks to pay for the installation of a splash pad, and an ice rink, alongside the full redesign of the park.
