State Representative Shae Sortwell of Two Rivers, alongside fellow legislators from both sides of the political aisle, have officially introduced their marijuana reform bill.
The bill aims to change the penalties for possessing the drug.
Sortwell is joined on the bill by fellow Republican Representatives Paul Tittl, Rachael Cabral-Guevara, Scott Krug, Clint P. Moses, and Robert Brooks, and Republican Senator Kathleen Bernier.
From the other side of the aisle, the bill is supported by Senator Lena Taylor, and Representatives David Bowen, LaKeshia Myers, and Sylvia Ortiz-Velez.
It should be noted, this bill DOES NOT aim to legalize marijuana, but rather lessen the punishment for possession.
The marijuana debate has been typically fallen on party lines, but it appears as though both sides are coming together to make a change in Wisconsin.
