Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson is joining faith leaders in Milwaukee as they object to tax bills they have received from the city.
The problem centers on a Wisconsin state law that requires churches to submit a form with the state Revenue Department every two years to maintain their tax-exempt status.
Some churches failed to follow through.
Jesse met with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett Tuesday after a phone conversation the previous night.
Barrett says he is looking into the possibility he can issue an executive order to stop those churches from getting the tax notices.
