Those who plan on voting this spring in Two Rivers will only have two polling places to choose from.
The City decided to cut its polling locations in half for a couple of reasons.
While on WOMT’s Jim and Rick Show recently, City Manager Greg Buckley explained that they had to make sure, “we have facilities that can well serve the voters. The two polling places we consolidated to, St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish and the Abundant Life Church are well located.”
Another major reason for the reduction is staffing. “It has been harder and harder to get the number of election workers we need. Some of our election workers have aged out if you will. We rely on a lot of seniors,” Buckley said. “The City also is investing in new technology, updating our voting machines, going to Badger Books, which many of the other cities around us are using.”
While City Hall has been a traditional voting place in Two Rivers, Buckley said it was eliminated due to the cramped space inside come election day. This reduction is a permanent change, meaning it’s not just for the upcoming Spring Election.
Buckley put it bluntly, “Our belief is this will serve the voters very well.”
