The co-founders of the Sheboygan Area Pay It Forward organization were honored by the Clipper City Chordsmen Saturday night.
Scott and Kathleen LaBonte are the Harmony Award winners for 2021 and they received the award at the Chordsmen’s Christmas Show in the Endries Performance Hall in Manitowoc.
The all-male a cappella singing group seeks nominations of those special individuals who have made the lakeshore area a better place through their service to others.
The LaBonte’s were nominated because of their creation and maintenance of the Sheboygan Area Pay It Forward organization.
With the philosophy that “No one can help everyone, but everyone can help someone” the couple seeks ways to help others any way they can.
Last year, the LaBonte’s organized a winter hat and mitten project where they collected winter items, bagged them up, and placed them throughout the community for people in need to take and use.
They are currently in the midst of a toy drive for needy children with collection boxes located throughout the Sheboygan area.
Prior to moving to Wisconsin, the LaBonte’s were given a “hand-up” for which they are tremendously grateful.
Now, they feel that they’ve been blessed in many ways.
Their work is completely voluntary and gratuity is not accepted or expected.
Don Lewellen, a spokesman for the Chordsmen, said we congratulate Scott and Kathleen for their enthusiasm and devotion to others and for the harmony they create in the lakeshore area.
As Scott has said, “It’s amazing what can happen when the goal is kindness.”
