The Manitowoc Public School District has sent a letter to students’ families in connection to a troubling video shared widely this week on the social platform Tik Tok.
Superintendent Mark Holzman says it refers to a threat to school safety for every school in the United States, including elementary schools.
Holzman, who wrote the letter, says the post appears to be a part of a national Tik Tok trend and did not originate in the MPSD.
Holzman adds that they have been in contact with the Manitowoc Police Department and while they believe the threat isn’t credible, they are monitoring the situation closely and are taking it seriously, informing parents that there may be an increased police presence in District Buildings today as an added precaution.
