A Milwaukee County Circuit judge has been named to an open seat on the federal court in Green Bay.
Judge William Pocan is the brother of Congressman Mark Pocan. He has been a circuit judge for 15 years after a career as a private civil attorney.
If he is confirmed, Pocan would be the first gay federal judge in the 7th Circuit, which includes Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.
He was among four finalists recommended to President Biden over the summer by a bipartisan federal nominating commission.
