A mishap with a deep fryer was listed as the cause of a fire in Appleton on Christmas Eve.
The Appleton Fire Department was informed of the blaze on West Grant Street at around 11:30 AM on Friday.
Crews arrived to find an attached garage on fire.
All occupants of the home were able to escape the home without injury while crews quickly extinguished the blaze.
Fire damage was limited to the area around the fryer but there was some smoke damage in the house.
As a reminder to those who are looking to use a deep fryer at home, make sure you do not overfill your fryer, and never put wet food into the hot oil.
This will cause the oil to boil over, and likely cause a fire.
