The Manitowoc Police Department has a new form of stress relief. K-9 Mali is a bernedoodle female puppy that was introduced to the City Council last week.
Chief Nick Reimer explained that “She’s actually a facility K9 dog, so she is around the police department Monday through Friday as long as soon-to-be assistant chief Freiboth is around, and Mali is there to help relieve stress. She’s done an excellent job the last month or so and it’s gonna be like that for many years.”
Reimer tells Seehafer News, “it’s really about starting your day off on the right foot We have a lot of detectives, school resource officers, police officers, office staff administration all come in and visit Mali and pet her. She starts our day off with a smile, she’s always wagging her tail and I think it’s important to have someone like that because once we have our employees and staff have that stress relief it really kind of trickles into their day. And when they deal with the community they’re just happier.”
And the chief adds, “the dog is there for the employees at the Manitowoc Police Department.”
