A report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum reveals that the state’s tax burden has risen for the first time in a decade.
State and local taxes rose from 10.3% of income to 10.5%.
The Department of Revenue collected $34 billion dollars last year.
The report from the nonpartisan group blamed a surge of pandemic-related economic activity.
The Policy Forum says the growth is also driven by collecting taxes on online and out-of-state retailers.
