Final attendance figures are in from the recent Lights in Manitowoc’s Lincoln Park.
Light Show Chairman Doug Koch, who is also the Acting President of the Lincoln Park Zoological Society, tells Seehafer News he was very happy with the turnout.
He said that “In spite of the wind, rain, foggy weather and having to compete against the Green Bay Packers two games for attendance, but based on the count of 3,600 cars going through we estimate about 11,000 people went through the light show this year.”
Koch explained it has become a “family tradition” for those attending the light show, which completed year number 10.
“It’s hard to believe we started with the minimal amount of light displays covering about a quarter-mile of park road,” Koch said. “Today we have over 80 light displays nearly a mile long. So it’s had a lot of growth in that period of time.”
Proceeds go to the Lincoln Park Zoological Society for improvements at the zoo.
He also expressed thanks to individuals and businesses sponsoring the light displays and to the numerous volunteers who helped with the Family Night Fun Walks, visits with Santa in Cabin 1, and at the park entrance each of the nights.
Koch indicated that planning will begin already this week for the 2022 Lights in Lincoln Park.
