A 20-year-old Manitowoc man appeared in court this afternoon on drug charges in two separate matters.
In one case, Michael A. Svacina is charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide, Delivery of a Schedule I or II Drug, and four counts of Felony Bail Jumping. Officers and EMS personnel were summoned to a residence on the city’s southside early in the morning on November 23rd last year, where they found a 20-year-old man dead with drug paraphernalia located in his hand.
Facebook messages exchanged between the two men revealed a discussion of a drug sale, specifically heroin or fentanyl. Svacina was taken into custody this week after admitting to supplying the victim with the drugs. Conditions of bail include that Svacina have “no contact” with any of the victim’s family or possess any controlled substance.
He remains in the County Jail on $50,000 cash bail. Meanwhile, bail was set at $10,000 cash for Svacina in a second case where he faces charges of two counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, delivery of methamphetamine, three counts of delivery of fentanyl, a Schedule II drug and four
counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
The County Clerk Of Courts Office tells us that these charges were grouped together of alleged crimes that occurred over a period of time.
Svacina is scheduled to make initial appearances in both cases February 21st at 1:30.
