Authorities have released the identity of a 42-year-old man found deceased on January 29th in The Town of Cato.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig says that it was determined Kurt Pocan Sr. of Keshena was operating a stolen vehicle from a family member on December 29th of last year, found unoccupied on Grimms Road south of US Highway 10.
Deputies located the ignition key in the on position and it’s believed the vehicle ran out of gas and found Pocan about a half-mile from the disabled vehicle.
No signs of traumatic injury were observed. An autopsy was conducted with results pending.
Hypothermia is believed to be a factor in Pocan’s death. The case remains under investigation. Assisting on scene were The Wisconsin State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources and The Valders Fire Department.
