Just because it says it’s flushable doesn’t mean it is.
A massive sewer backup last week in Green Bay was reportedly caused by wipes that claim to be flushable.
The City’s Public Works employees had to dislodge about 1,200 feet of sewer line on the west side of the city due to that backup, most of which were flushable wipes and absorbent pads.
The City’s Director of Public Works has issued a reminder to residents that the only things that should be flushed down the toilet are body waste and tissue paper.
The problem with the wipes is that they do not dissolve the same way as tissue paper, and as was proven last week, can cause a massive backup in the public infrastructure, which will cost the city, and the taxpayers.
