Renowned singer Linda Ronstadt retired from singing in 2011, but her music lives on through an upcoming show in Manitowoc.
The Linda Ronstadt Experience will be held at the Capitol Civic Center on April 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Tristan McIntosh, a 2016 American Idol finalist, is the singer taking to the stage to offer her interpretation of Ronstadt’s powerful live shows.
McIntosh spoke to Seehafer News about how she came to be a part of The Linda Ronstadt Experience: “The leader of the band, Junior, who is our bass player, had the idea to start a Linda Ronstadt tribute group just because he really didn’t see any anywhere.”
She added that she was not the group’s first singer. “They originally had a different singer but it didn’t work out with her so they sent out an ad to Nashville and Texas and my mom saw it.”
Her mom then encouraged her to audition for the job. “She was like, ‘Tristan, sometimes people say you sound like Linda Ronstadt, do want to maybe try out for this?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, why not.’ So, we quite literally got the gig together on Craigslist!”
A mere karaoke jukebox show is not what fans should expect to see or hear, but McIntosh thinks Linda Ronstadt fans will get a taste of what they love during the show.
“We try and do as authentic a version of seeing her concerts because we take a mixture of the studio versions of her songs and the live versions and we kind of combine the two.”
Tickets cost $32.50 and can be purchased at the Capitol Civic Center box office or online at CCCShows.org.
