Spring is coming, and while everyone on the Lakeshore has perked up every time the thermometer has risen this month, the new season also means that new batches of kittens are about to hit at local animal shelters.
To answer the call, Lakeshore Humane Society is hosting Viva Paws Vegas at the Venue at Union Square on York Street in Manitowoc on March 26 at 6:00 p.m.
The fundraiser is aimed to provide funds for the humane society when they need it most to prepare for an influx of new animals.
Tina Nichols, Shelter Manager at Lakeshore Humane Society, spoke to Seehafer News on Thursday to say that this new ‘gambling’ theme is something the organization has never done before.
“We’re having a party and it’s gonna be at the Venue at Union Square which is the new event space.” She elaborated, “We’re gonna have a silent auction, and our silent auction prizes are going to be big, which is really fun! We have raffles and we have a casino company coming in, and as part of your ticket price, you get ‘fun money.’ You get to ‘gamble.’ It’s no money out of your pocket to gamble. You get to learn to play different games and then you win prizes.”
If it sounds like a proper casino experience, that’s the idea. “You’re gonna see a showgirl, you’re gonna see casino stuff, so lots of fun stuff is going on with this event.”
Tickets to the event are $50, but Nichols says that the ticket cost offers a substantial experience. “It includes drinks, it includes food, it includes raffle prices, it includes gambling and your table games. So, there’s a lot that’s included with that.”
All of the proceeds go towards Lakeshore Humane Society. Tickets must be purchased in advance, by March 21, either at the shelter or online at LakeshoreHumane.org.
Nichols added that some shelter pets may also make an appearance at the event, so arrive ready to meet some new four-legged friends.
