No one was injured but the damage is extensive to a home following a fire in Luxemburg yesterday.
Fire Chief Lew DuChateau says the initial call came in just after 1:00 p.m. for a fire in a cellar of a residence on County Road E in the Town of Casco.
Upon arrival, crews saw fire coming out of the front door and windows and smoke coming from the eaves. Firefighters attacked the blaze of the two-story structure, extinguishing it quickly, however the home sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire was determined to come from a heat lamp being used in the front area of the home. Firefighters were on scene for approximately six hours for cleanup and to deal with any potential flare-ups and/or hot spots.
The homeowner was able to escape without injury and is being assisted by the Red Cross for any immediate needs.
Assisting on scene were Fire Departments from Algoma, Brussels-Union-Gardner, Casco, Kewaunee, New Franken and Southern Door, along with Luxemburg Rescue.
