Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley discussed the grant awards to local law enforcement agencies during Monday night’s meeting of the Two Rivers Common Council.
He commented on the recent grant awards to law enforcement agencies through Governor Evers’ Office by the state’s American Rescue Plan Act funds from the federal government.
“The Two Rivers Police Department will be getting a little over $19,000 there that can be used for training, recruitment, technology, and community policing.”
Two Rivers has also been issued a beach grooming permit through the Department of Natural Resources. “Monies are available this year as we had planned for lead water service lateral replacement. We expect to be doing 33 of those on South 17th Street and another 50 at scattered locations throughout the community.”
Buckley added that the permit is for five years to regularly groom or clean the beach beyond the confines of Neshotah Park, “to allow us to clean the beach south of Neshotah Park to the area of the north pier, the so-called new beach that emerged after the last harbor dredging and has remained, to a large extent, as the lake has gone down.”
