A 70-year-old Whitelaw woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash early this morning in the Town of Franklin.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says deputies and EMS personnel responded at around 4:45 a.m. to a rollover crash on Hillcrest Road, east of County Highway T.
A preliminary investigation indicates that she was traveling eastbound on Hillcrest Road when she lost control. She left the roadway, entered the ditch and overturned.
The driver was ejected from her vehicle and despite life-saving measures, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
Icy road conditions are believed to be a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.
Assisting on scene were Manitowoc Rescue, Manitowoc County Highway Department, Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center and Coroner’s Office, Kellnersville First Responders and Fire and PK’s Towing.
