University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point coach Shirley Egner is retiring after 33 years of heading the school’s women’s basketball program.
She expressed her gratitude for those 33 years of “mentoring young women” in a release from the school Wednesday.
Egner was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame 12 years ago.
Her teams compiled a record of 572 wins and 292 losses and she coached the Pointers to a national title in 2002.
Egner led her team to WIAC regular-season titles five times and was named conference coach of the year four times.
Her teams made 10 trips to the NCAA postseason.
