“My heart goes out to those victims and the families to the victims because there’s no excuse for mass shootings.”
Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer commenting on the multiple mass shootings across the county that have left dozens dead and many more injured. Reimer tells Seehafer News that unfortunately, these incidents occur despite best efforts to prevent them saying
“We just try to do the best we can with our training and preparation in case it should happen to obviously minimize victims and save lives and stop the bleeding. That’s the training we have to deal with that.”
The MPD Chief was asked what is the root cause for someone to commit such a heinous crime?
:“Probably some mental illness out there that this stems from. Sometimes there are some things we can do to prevent that. Hopefully, we can get people the help they need and spot those early warning signs.”
Which can include eating less, sleeping more, less social interaction, and withdrawing from their favorite activities, friends, and family. Reimer says it may sound corny but if you see something say something.
:” If they hear someone say like Hey, I’m going to shoot up the place, or some sort of trigger that makes you say I should tell someone something, it’s better to be safe than sorry and that can actually help prevent a mass shooting.”
