To use a nautical phrase, it appears to be “full speed ahead” for the season-opening of the Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center at Citizen Park.
Curtis Hall, the City of Manitowoc Parks, and Recreation Manager tells Seehafer News, “We are planning on opening (Saturday), June 11th and be open for the season until August 26th this year. If we are able to extend days of operation and staff is available at the end of the year we are flexible to extend it if we can. It’s all based on staffing.”
Speaking of the labor aspect of running such an operation, Hall explained, “You know it looks good. I think we’re in a very good spot right now, but I cannot take any credit for that myself as I have to give all the credit to our Rec Team Leader Katie Dorow. She’s done a fantastic job recruiting and hiring and has already started training our summer seasonals. It looks like we are going to be fully staffed at the aquatic center. After having some struggles with staffing last year, this year is off to a promising start.”
Special Nights planned at the family aquatic center this summer include Jazz At the Pool for those ages 21 and over on June 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., a mini-golf and swimming opportunity on the 4th of July from noon until 5:00 p.m., two Special Needs Splash Times on July 23rd and again August 13th between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon, Customer Appreciation Day on August 20th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with greatly reduced admission fees and Teen Night August 20th between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m.
