Coast guard helicopter was dispatched out of Traverse City.
Lake Michigan water temp is around 45
45 ft Coast Guard response boat, Manitowoc Fire and Rescue, DNR boat all actively searching. Green Bay dive team is in route to assist in the search.
The captain of the SS Badger ask if he should hold the ship and Manitowoc PD said yes. All marine traffic is being held at this point.
Looking for a male, last seen wearing an orange shirt and backpack about 40 yards offshore of Manitowoc harbor.
Several law enforcement agencies are searching for a body in the Manitowoc Harbor. The Manitowoc Police Department received the initial call about 12:45 this afternoon for the report of someone who dove into Lake Michigan and has not resurfaced.
The specific search centers south of The Manitowoc Marina near and behind The Baymont Hotel and The Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA.
A Coast Guard helicopter is flying overhead assisting in the search.
The S.S. Badger is currently docked awaiting clearance to return to Ludington Michigan to ensure the safety of a Dive and Rescue Team currently in the water.
Traffic flow around the area is normal, but authorities are urging pedestrians to avoid the area.
