A pair of area high school baseball teams will be preparing for the WIAA State Tournament at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
In the Division-1 Sectional championship, Bay Port toppled De Pere 11-2. Earlier in the semifinals, the host Pirates nipped Hortonville 3-2 while the Redbirds upset #1 seeded Kimberly 3-to-1.
In the Division-2 Sectional Denmark shut out Notre Dame 6-to-nothing at Seymour. The Vikings had beaten Xavier 10-5 and the Tritons edged Shawano 4-3 in the semifinals.
In the Division-3 Sectional, Kewaunee lost to Amherst 5-to-1 in the Sectional semifinals at Crivitz, before the “Falcons” captured the tournament title with a 10-nothing, 5 inning win over Oconto.
In another Division-3 Sectional, Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic defeated host Chilton in the final game 8-to-2. Earlier, the Tigers blanked Lomira 9-nothing and the Lancers ‘escaped’ with a 12-to-11 victory over Brookfield Academy.
