The annual June Dairy Month event known as Breakfast on the Farm will be taking place this weekend.
This year’s Breakfast will be held that the Grotegut Dairy Farm, located south of Manitowoc at 7427 Newton Road in Newton.
Roger Menke, who is with the Manitowoc County Dairy Promotion Committee, told Seehafer News that there will be many things for children and adults to do starting at 8:00 a.m.
“Bring your cameras along, and take a picture with a calf,” he suggested. “There will be children’s activities and a bounce house. I think the children will really enjoy the tours, and there will be a big pile of sand for them to play in.”
And of course, there is the food.
They will, as is tradition, have a big egg omelet for everyone.
“There will be doughnut holes, a variety of cheeses, and a variety of yogurts,” he explained. “Ice cream comes with the meal.”
Doug Grotegut says that hosting this year’s event means a lot to him personally.
“We had it 25 years ago and a lot of my family was around,” he recalled. “I still got seven siblings that will be there and their spouses, and kids and grandkids and nephews, but my father passed away a year ago, and I lost a brother three years ago. [I’m] doing it a little bit in spirit with them.”
The Grotegut Dairy Farm is located between Highways C and F on Newton Road, and between Highways 42 and 43 in the Town of Newton.
