To anyone who’s spent time at Camp Randall Stadium on game day – or even more specific – to anyone who’s traveled with Badger fans to a bowl game, this isn’t a surprise.
The Badgers fanbase is one of the biggest in college football.
An analysis estimates Wisconsin football has a fan base of more than 4.5 million – good for ninth in the country.
That analysis shows the top 16 fanbases make up more than half of the sport’s entire group of fans.
Sitting at the very top is Ohio State.
Penn State and Michigan are number-four and five and they give the Big Ten four of the top nine fanbases in the sport.
