Several Republican Gubernatorial candidates participated in the “Cows and Candidates” event held at Shiloh Dairy Farm in Brillion Saturday (June 25th).
The focus of Saturday’s gathering was on Agricultural Issues with a heavy emphasis on lifting restrictions on free trade.
Candidates Tim Ramthun, Kevin Nicholson, Tim Michels, and Adam Fischer all have business backgrounds, which they all feel is necessary to be Governor.
All spoke on what they feel is too much regulation, restriction, and red political tape to loosen and open free market trading.
Ramthun says if elected he will explore possibly creating a flat tax or eliminating the state tax altogether, Nicholson and Michels spoke to the crowd about not being so-called politicians.
Both agree that taxes must be lowered to free up capital to grow businesses so jobs can be created, costs lowered, and monetary burdens lifted to ship American products overseas.
Fischer added that there’s not been enough accountability provided by those in Madison to the constituents they serve, and that will change under his watch. Rebecca Kleefisch did not attend.
Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, seeking a third six-year term, decided to run again because “This country is slipping down a slippery slope towards socialism.”
He referred to the out-of-control spending that’s led to high gas and food prices and out-of-control inflation.
Both he and 6TH District Congressman Mike Gallagher spoke on the weakening of the military along with too many handouts instead of a helping hand to get people back on their feet and back into the workforce.
All the candidates were in total agreement that major immigration reform is needed on our southern border with Mexico, which in their opinion has led to opportunities being taken away from those who are here legally and has led to an increase in drug overdose deaths, especially from fentanyl.
