Yesterday we told you all about Through Eyes of Grace, the independent film based on the novel of the same name written by Dave Payton who lives in Sheboygan.
Today we will hear from one of the other stars of the film, Kurt Krauss.
Krauss actually got his theatrical start in Manitowoc.
“I attended UW Manitowoc, so I was a part of University Theater, and then also performed with the Capitol Civic Center, Capitol Off-Broadway, and Masquers,” he told Seehafer News. “I transitioned into film in 2008. I wanted to explore that life. I worked on an independent film, and actually work in one Universal picture. Public Enemies when they were shooting in Oshkosh.”
This movie is Krauss’s first in a principal role.
He told us all about his character.
“Ellis Kirkbride, he is the local town sheriff. He grew up kind of a local town hero as a football star,” Krauss explained. “When this teenage girl goes missing, it not only impacts the community, it’s a very personal thing. I grew up with the pastor and another character in this film, and the three of us were very good friends in high school. We have been involved in each other’s lives and watched one another’s families grow up. So the girl that goes missing is a girl that I have known her whole life.”
Krauss said that his character starts off the story as a laid-back rather goofy guy, which is something he could connect with.
“To prepare for it, I love cop dramas, so I have watched a number of those,” he revealed. “With it being small town, I didn’t want to be a caricature of Andy Griffith, but wanted to bring something of small town.”
Through Eyes of Grace is expected to be released in 2023 and will also star Victoria Jackson, who was on Saturday Night live from 1986 to 1992.
Tomorrow we will hear more about the film from actress Amanda Kristin Cox, and the Director of the movie, Michael Thomas Determan.
