Manitowoc Tool and Manufacturing, a part of the community since 1965, held a Groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning for their new facility in Manitowoc’s now full Industrial Park.
President and CEO Scott Mertens called it a very special day, telling Seehafer News “We’ve used up all the land at our current facility on Expo Drive and worked with the city to obtain 20 acres at his location. The plan is to fill this space, up to 45,000 square feet then do some warehousing and manufacturing once it’s done.”
Sales Manager Max Ashenbrener explains this facility allows them to meet the needs of a growing, diversified customer base.
He said, “We’ve had a lot of organic growth with our customer base over the last five to 10 years. And the bank of business has also grown over the years that’s helped bring us, new customers. It’s important that both new and existing customers know that we’re investing the way we are which is a huge selling point for us.”
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels says one of the city’s primary goals is to help local businesses continue to grow and stay here adding
“When we see growth like this, it means people are buying homes, shopping in our stores, and enjoying downtown, That’s what it’s all about,” Nickels explained. “That’s why the little part we have here to make sure that MTM and local businesses stay here and new businesses feel welcome to locate here. It’s exciting that people see Manitowoc as a place to grow their business.”
Construction on Phase One is expected to be completed by the end of the year with plans to expand exponentially in the near future.
