The Trout Museum of Art in Appleton is looking to move to a larger location.
Board members have stated that they simply have outgrown their current location, and financially it makes more sense to move, rather than try to renovate.
Museum leaders have stated that they are looking into moving to a site in the Ellen Kort Peace Park which is currently undeveloped.
The City of Appleton has stated that the City Council resolution regarding that space made in 2016 conflicts with the museum building there.
The relocation talks are still in their early stages, so it’s not clear exactly when any progress will be made.
The museum has been in its current location at 111 West College Avenue since 2002, a building which was built in 1922 for the Brettschneider’s Furniture Company.
It also served as an office building from 1985 to 2022 when Lyle Reigel donated it to the Museum.
