A couple of weeks ago we reported on a Door County cherry farm that was raising money to aid those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Bernard Farms called the event “Pick Cherries for Ukraine” and it has been going on all month.
They invited people out to either donate their time to pick cherries for them and they would donate what would have been their pay for the day or pick for themselves, and half of the cost of the fruit would be donated to Wisconsin Ukrainians Inc.
In total, 210 hours of cherry picking have been donated, collecting 322 buckets of the juicy sweet fruits, which when combined with the money collected in their donation jar, totals over $6,800.
That money is going directly to Wisconsin Ukrainians Inc., which will use it to aid Ukrainians through the purchase of combat medic bags and other medical supplies.
