The Manitowoc American Legion Baseball team captured the State Triple A American Legion Baseball championship Saturday.
Legion Post 88 beat Eau Claire 6-3 in Saturday’s finale at Sheboygan’s Wildwood Park.
They had lost to Eau Claire 10-0 on Friday, but came out strong in their second chance game in the double elimination tournament.
Both Manitowoc and Eau Claire are now heading to the Great Lakes Regional in Midland, Michigan.
Manager Kevin Stangel’s club faces the Illinois state champion Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
It marks the first-ever state championship for Manitowoc Legion baseball.
