Bail is set at $300 cash for a 32-year-old Manitowoc man accused of breaking into a city residence with a hatchet.
Lukas R, Schroeder is charged with Burglary and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
Police were called to a home in the 2100 block of Richmond Avenue last week where they discovered that a hatchet was used to break a window to a door to gain entrance, where Schroeder allegedly took some jewelry and $300 cash.
Police got a break when a citizen called to inform them that he heard Schroeder bragging about committing the crime, which turned out to be his uncle’s home, knowing that he was going to be out of town.
Schroeder also admitted to selling the jewelry to Rummeles Jewelers, which has since been returned to its rightful owner.
Conditions of Bail are that Schroeder is to have “no contact” with the victim or Rummeles Jewelers.
He remains in The County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for August 8th at 1:30.
