The Brown County Board of Supervisors has voted to extend the half-cent sales tax.
Officials say they want to keep it in force until the county’s debt is eliminated.
That is projected to happen in 2037.
Over the last four years revenue from the sales tax has helped pay for projects like the STEM building at UW-Green Bay, a new Brown County Jail pod, and road repairs.
Leaders say the sales tax has helped lower the county’s debt from $118 million to $58 million.
The tax was scheduled to end next year.
