To say the Fore Finn’s Fight golf outing was a success would be a major understatement.
Kari and Mike Schmidt organized the outing Saturday morning at The Golf Course at Branch River to help their great-nephew Finn in his battle against cancer.
Mike told us that when Kari first brought up the idea of holding a golf outing, he didn’t think there would be enough time, but the couple pressed on.
They were hoping to get 18 teams to participate, but they were shocked to have way more than that, 32 teams totaling 128 golfers.
Kari said this “far exceeded our expectations. We had to turn one team away because we were so full.”
Not only were the Schmidts astonished by the number of people that came out to support the cause, but they also received another surprise from the Pink Heals of Manitowoc County.
Finn lives in Hastings Minnesota, and the Pink Heals Manitowoc County tries to focus only on Manitowoc County residents.
But Kari revealed, “they were so moved by Finn’s story, they met as an executive board and decided that they were going to extend their gratitude across state lines, because there is no Pink Heals in that area, and decided to give Finn and his family a $1,000 donation today.”
The Pink Heals also drove in their iconic pink ambulance and fire truck for people to see and sign.
Finn was also involved via a Facetime call, and Mike said he was super excited to see everyone supporting him.
