They aren’t there quite yet, but fuel prices in Eastern Wisconsin are getting ever closer to where they were before the first big spike this summer.
According to the AAA Gas Prices webpage, Manitowoc County motorists are paying 10 cents less per gallon at the pump, now averaging $3.42, while Sheboygan County’s dip of 8 cents leaves them at the same price.
Calumet County saw the largest fall in the area, dipping 15 cents to $3.34, while Outagamie County’s average fell 9 cents to $3.30.
A 12-cent drop was reported in Brown County, where the average is down to $3.34, while Kewaunee County saw a 10-cent decline to $3.43.
Door County reported the smallest drop in fuel prices, dipping 7 cents to $3.55 per gallon on average.
The state average followed a similar trend to our area, dropping 10 cents to $3.45, while the national average fell 6 cents to $3.70.
The average price in the seven-county area we cover is at $3.40, which is still 43 cents higher than it was during the second full week of September last year, but only 8 cents more than the first week in March this year which is just before a 60 cent spike shocked motorists.
